Exclusions and Contra-indications for HCG
- Any hormonal cancer/or history of; e.g. prostate, breast, ovarian, endometrium etc. (A letter from the oncologist is required should you choose to treat a patient with history of cancer.)
- Androgen dependent neoplasms (testicular, prostate)
- Primary ovarian failure (refers to a loss of normal function of the ovaries before age 40)
- Active thrombophlebitis or thromboembolic event (high doses of HCG may increase risk of clotting; if patient is on medication and it is controlled, it is not a problem)
- Pituitary tumours
- Uncontrolled endocrine disorders (e.g. untreated thyroid, adrenal or pituitary illnesses which is not treated or under control)
- Hyperprolactinaemia, this is the presence of abnormally high levels of prolactin in the blood
- Bi-polar disorders (HCG has uplifting properties. A letter from the psychiatrist is required should you choose to treat a patient with bi-polar disorders.)
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding (can commence with the programme preferable after 3 months of giving birth)
